did anyone else listen that night?
it was terribly depressing... it's funny... 4 months ago i would have been totally in agreement with everything he said...i have the highest respect for science and believe whole-heartedly in evolution and all that stuff...
but listening to it that night it really brought me down... i had to turn it off before the callers started in the last hour of the show cos i knew it was just going to be a lot of hurt and angry people arguing with him... even george sounded sad and disappointed and mildly distressed at how cold and completely certain this dude was that all things we perceive as paranormal or spiritual are just the product of a certain part of our brain which has specifically evolved to give us these experiences... it's all "in our head" so to speak...
i have only recently begun to be interested in the spiritual realm and have taken such great comfort from what i have been hearing and reading and learning - thanks largely to art and george and the many wonderful guests and callers... and then to sit and listen to somebody just gleefully kind of trash it all was disheartening... it's not that i don't respect his opinion and his right to it, and i think on some levels he may have got it right... but to just dismiss everything completely - to say there is nothing but this miserable life and once it's over we are worm food and there is nothing beyond it... well, it just kind of hurts, you know?
anybody else listen that night or know of mr. alper's work and have an opinion?

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Fri, December 8, 2006 - 4:11 PMHi Feral & everyone-
I caught a little of the show. I don't think I agreed with him on many points but it's refreshing to hear a contrasting view. I pretty much grew up being an atheist but I have changed some of my attitudes later on in life. I'll have to listen to it again. I haven't been feeling well so I've been missing alot.

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 11:39 AMI've gained a great deal of insight from Coast to Coast, be it George or Art or Ian...
I take some of it with a grain of salt though...
There's too much conflicting information in too many areas to believe it ALL.
I guess if ya take to heart some of the things he said it would be pretty depressing...
but you have to remember there a many, many people out there being interviewed by Coast...
We don't know which of this stuff is for sure, and which of it is pure extropolation...
I didn't catch the whole Matthew Alper thing I missed about half..
What I found really interesting was the stuff about the Alien dude... "JW"
There wasn't near enough said about him... fascinating stuff ... -

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 11:43 AMoops! p.s.
Isn't Matthew Alper the guy who suggested that George and Art are FreeMasons?
That in itself tells me the guy is NOT very well informed... Neither of them are Masons...
and in my opinion the guy looked a bit moronic in several instances during what I heard...
didn't know his material very well... etc... -

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 11:47 AMinteresting, i didn't catch him saying that about them being freemasons...
however i was listening to an old streamlink yesterday where somebody claimed that art was a freemason and i think i remember george saying "no he's not"... i wish i could remember who that was who said it...
art freaked me out last night when he kept on going on an on about how abortion was wrong...
sometimes i am suprised by how strongly i disagree with him in some areas and how strongly i agree with him in others...
i will tell you that when he talks about his cats i melt and just adore him... -

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 8:40 PMI think the show with "JW" & the mason querries was on 12-7-06 with Robert Stanley. I caught some of that & it was pretty interesting. I could see Art Bell being a mason. I don't think they would say it straight out if Art or George were but I don't know. The 12-4-06 show was with the Neuro-theologist guy who also is an atheist. I'm going to have to go back & listen to the 12-7-06 show. I just re-listened to the 12-6-06 with Jason Martell and Erik Poltorak about the Annunaki. I'd like to check out some of the Zecharia Sitchin books. I haven't read any. It was a good week for C2C! -

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Sat, December 9, 2006 - 8:47 PMArt Bell seems to have some very contrasting & surprising opinions. I don't know what that's all about. I really like the material that they all cover. Listening to all these guests & commentators helps me to distinguish between the authentic people & people who are posers. Sometimes it's the straight-laced scientists who are ignorant, sometimes it's the hawkers trying to sell some new "brain-power" package. It's very interesting. Some of the people who come off as most authentic are ones I never would have imagined. Some of those mediums they had on in October scared the shit out of me - & I'm not rel big on that sort of stuff. It's a great show!

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Sun, December 10, 2006 - 12:10 PMOkay. My bad.
It was probably Robert Stanley. I listen on the radio here and sometimes I get the tail end of the previous show before the current one starts. I don't know about everywhere else but the show's on late at night here and sometimes I drift off to sleep .. miss part of it and wake up thinking its the same show...
As for Art being a FreeMason I highly doubt that he is given that coast has occasionaly connected FreeMasons with Illuminati and the bergerbuilders or bergdorfs (or whatever they're called can't remember exactly). I think I'll email Art and ask him to clarify this. -

Sun, December 10, 2006 - 1:24 PMwww.meta-religion.com/Secret_...racy.htm
I heard Alex Jones was trying to film one of their meetings & he was arrested & hassled by the police.
I haven't listened to Art Bell for a long time. He has some surprising attitudes every so often. It makes him a bit hard to pin down. -

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Tue, December 12, 2006 - 6:54 AMArt has made multiple references to preparing for Adult Rite (initiation) into Roman Catholicism...which explains both roots of some of Art's seemingly contrasting views..and how he can't possibly be affiliated with masonry. -

Why would one check mate the other Phillip?
... and...I thought Art was doing the Catholic thing for his new wife?

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Wed, December 13, 2006 - 3:58 AMi heard the show, but left right before the callers came on. i really wanted to hear all of the irate callers though, because i thought it would be amusing. i'm an atheist myself, but i'm not as sure on somethings as he is. the things he said concerning god, i pretty much agreed with and was amused when he said he felt sorry for a god that couldn't clearly communicate with people, and said, "oh, poor retarded god." i'm sure some people felt that was harsh, but so are religions than preach damnations for those who can't choose the right religion because there is no clear evidence or reason for any particular religion. even within each religion, there are many sects, because the old books were not written clearly.
and i'd like to comment on your particular opinion. i don't mean any offense by this, but to justify the possibility of something based on emotion is a bad way to go about things. a belief is not proven or justified simply because someone wishes it was true, and they'd be sad/lost without it. that's not how things work. i can understand you WANTING there to be more, but don't let hope/desire replace true evidence.
that said, i think it'd be really interesting if astral projection was real, but i'm holding out for some solid, personal proof. -

Re: Matthew Alper - 12/4 show
Wed, December 13, 2006 - 7:57 AMoh i adored the "retarded god" comment... but then i have never been a big proponent of some dude up in the sky who sits around and decides what is wrong or right for everybody and then punishes accordingly... and i have to agree w/ the things he said about either "god" is all powerful and just doesn't give a fuck or that "god" is too inept to do anything about the mess he made...
